Although there are many things to consider when buying a gift, especially for a woman in your life, a few principles always apply. Following are some basic tips to help you through the sometimes shady waters of choosing a lady's gift.
First and foremost, pay attention! Take a good look at the home of the woman who is receiving your gift. Does she decorate with angels, candles, family photo frames, posters or art? The items a woman chooses for her home will give you many clues on what kind of gift she would enjoy.
Ask questions. It never hurts to ask anyone, especially a woman, what she would enjoy as a present. Don't take the easy way out and just send a dozen flowers or a box of chocolates! Everyone prefers to receive gifts that are meaningful and matched to their interests. If you do send flowers (and sometimes you should), why not add a personal touch with a teddy bear or an appropriate occasion photo frame?
If in doubt consider her giving something which will remind her of friends and family. A nice themed photo album or an ornate photo frame can be a lovely gift, especially for big occasions such as anniversaries and weddings. Engagement and christening photo frames are popular too, as they allow people to commemorate important events in a meaningful way.
Make your gift giving successful by taking the time to learn about the women in your life and to appreciate them for their unique traits and feelings. Everyone loves to receive gifts and most people will reciprocate in kind. You don't even need to wait for a birthday or other special occcasion - sometimes a nice photo album or picture frame can brighten someone's normal day, and you'll feel good about giving someone a reason to smile too!
