What is SEO? Some Definitions.
This depends who you ask!
If you are interested in birds, then SEO is Sociedad Española de Ornitología (Spanish bird society). This is the equivalent of the UK’s RSPB and it helps protect the environment for wildlife, especially birds, and provides information for bird watchers. The Española de Ornitología is the owner of the domain name www.SEO.org.
For city finance or UK share dealers, then SEO obviously stands for Seasoned Equity Offering. A Seasoned Equity Offering (SEO) is sometimes also called a Secondary Equity Offering (SEO) and refers to the issuance of additional shares, particularly in the UK. There are several types of for Seasoned Equity Offering (SEO), one of which is a ‘rights issue’ where existing shareholders are given the right to buy further shares, usually in an amount proportionate to their prevailing holdings. So this is effectively a types of “equity issue”.
If you are an electrical engineer, then SEO (Symbol Error Outage) is an important part of SEP (Symbol-Error Probability). This can be explained concisely (but maybe not most informatively) by the following equation:
Within the jobs market, traditionally SEO has always meant Senior Executive Officer which is understood to be a senior management role within an organisation.
More recently, with the dominance of Google and the Internet, the acronym SEO is more often associated with ‘search engine optimisation’ than with a bird society, equity shares, symbol error probabilities or a managerial job role.
Search engine optimisation (SEO) refers to making a website appear high within the search engine results for relevant keyword searches.
Cornish WebServices have been providing search engine optimisation (SEO) services since 2003, with some client websites on top page of Google for over five years.
