Wordpress shopping carts – security issues

Wordpress CMS securityThe latest versions of WordPress shopping carts appear to suffer from remote SQL injection and shell upload vulnerabilities according to a recent post (dated 3rd January 2013) on the Internet.

Last month Wordpress themselves removed a popular Amazon plugin as this has serious security issues. At the same time 5 other popular plugins had important security updates implemented – these need downloading to any website using them.

It is really important that any Wordpress site has regular maintenance and security audits on all plugins.

Security updates on Wordpress in 2012

Last year WordPress had fewer major security updates than other open source CMS system, suggesting the core system is realtively stable.

With Wordpress the biggest risk of a security breach is through poorly written plugins.
